Sprint Companies Honored with Platinum Safety Award

Sprint Waste Services has received the Platinum Safety Partner Award from Texas Mutual Insurance Co., the largest workers’ compensation insurance provider in Texas. The award honors top-tier workplace safety among the company’s policyholders, regardless of industry. Only 200 of the more than 72,000 policyholders in Texas are honored with the award, according to Texas Mutual, placing Sprint Waste in the top 0.28 percent of policyholders.

The Platinum Safety Partner Award is given to companies and organizations that demonstrate a commitment to safety in the workplace by implementing an organized safety plan and effectively managing workers’ compensation losses.

Dave Nelson, Sprint Waste President, accepted the award Dec. 13 on behalf of Sprint Waste Services as well as sister companies Sprint Transport, Sprint Fort Bend County Landfill, Sprint Montgomery County Landfill and Triple-S Compost. Nelson said the award speaks to Sprint’s laser focus on safe operations across the entire organization.

“We’re honored to be recognized for our safety efforts across these Sprint companies,” Nelson said. “No matter where we do business, safe and healthy operations for every member of our team is the foundation of our business. With hundreds of trucks and thousands of pieces of equipment in operation for our customers, we appreciate the opportunity to partner with Texas Mutual to improve the quality of our safety programs.”

The Texas Mutual award program promotes worker health and safety through its Work Safe, Texas program by recognizing policyholders with a demonstrated commitment to employee safety and loss prevention. Eric Bourquin, Texas Mutual’s vice president of safety services, said Sprint was selected for the award “because you provide the resources necessary to protect employees from workplace hazards, which is reflected by your outstanding safety record. Simply put, it is clear that safety is a core value in your organization.”
