Making a Difference After Harvey

Sprint Waste Services is once again a proud sponsor of the Sugar Land Rotary Fall Classic, a casino night and auction fundraiser 6:30–10 p.m. Sept. 23 at Safari Texas in Richmond, Texas. The annual event is the sole fundraiser of the Sugar Land Rotary with proceeds benefitting numerous area charities as well as the Rotary’s international efforts.

The theme of Saturday’s event is “Making a Difference.” In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the Fall Classic takes on added significance as organizers plan to honor first responders and neighbors who continue to make a difference for those in need after the devastating flooding brought on by Harvey.

“We’ve sponsored the Fall Classic every year since inception, and we always look forward to a fun night that benefits so many in our area,” says Reagan Swinbank, Sprint Waste Services partner. “But this year’s event will also help sponsor first responders and victims of Hurricane Harvey. The cleanup and recovery will be an ongoing process across our area—this is another fantastic opportunity to help our area recover and raise relief donations.”

The entertaining night includes a sponsored happy hour, delicious food, casino games, a live auction, raffle and bid board. Prizes include airfare and a two-night stay in Las Vegas, a guided fishing trip in Galveston, Houston Rockets and Houston Astros ticket packages, an estate planning package, and more. Tickets are $100 and include happy hour and food, non-alcoholic drinks (cash bar available) and access to the auction and bid board.

In addition to Harvey relief funds, organizers hope to raise more than $100,000 for the many worthy organizations the Sugar Land Rotary regularly supports, including Fort Bend Literacy Council, Fort Bend Women’s Center, The Arc of Fort Bend County, Boots and Badges, Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels, YIP, The Rose B. Johnson Foundation, Sugar Land Cultural Arts Foundation, YMCA of Fort Bend County.
